Latin countries including Argentina, want to host the World Cup

1930 to 2030 – exactly 100 years. The centenary of World Cup football will be celebrated in 2030. It was also the year of hosting the World Cup. Four Latin American countries Argentina, Uruguay, Paraguay and Chile want to jointly host this centenary World Cup.

Uruguay hosted the first World Cup in 1930. They also became champions of service. Uruguay faced Argentina in the final. Uruguay beat Argentina 4-2 in the final.

The scope of the World Cup has increased over the centuries. Not only that, the current format of the World Cup with 32 teams is also changing in 2026. The World Cup will be organized with 48 countries. In 1930 there were 13 participating countries in the first World Cup.

This time, Uruguay is no longer able to host the World Cup alone. It is not even possible for anyone else to organize the 48-nation World Cup alone. A few countries are jointly applying to FIFA to host the World Cup.

Also in Latin countries like America, Uruguay announced to host the World Cup along with Argentina, Paraguay and Chile. They have also submitted an application to FIFA.

The presidents of the football federations of the above four countries together submitted an application to the FIFA headquarters with the president of the Latin American Football Confederation (Conmable) Alejandro Dominguez. Together, they announced, “Where football was born, I want to take it back to the centenary.”

CONMEBOL President Alejandro Dominguez said, ‘2030 World Cup is not only a World Cup, it will be recognized as the 100th anniversary of this World Cup. Centenary World Cup should be celebrated around this World Cup. FIFA can show greatness by giving South America the opportunity to host the World Cup.

A press conference was organized in the Argentine capital, Buenos Aires, to announce the joint hosting of the World Cup by the four countries. Alejandro Dominguez was speaking there. “We were able to convince FIFA that it was important to honor the centenary,” he said.

Europe’s Spain and Portugal want to host the 2030 World Cup. These two European countries have already announced that they want to organize the event jointly. There is another competitor. Morocco and Saudi Arabia too. It is certain that they are also going to join this fight. The host of the 2030 World Cup will be decided in 2024.

The last World Cup was held in South America in 2014. The host was Brazil.
